TRANSFIGURED was my ​exploration of using trance, in front of an audience, with the intention to play with what ugly could look like but what beautiful feels like inside.

I was inspired by the Japanese Butoh dancers who let spirits dance through their bodies; so my performance was an invocation of the inner perceived 'yucky' bits to come out and show themselves.

My experience was that as always, in trance, everything feels beautiful and nothing external matters but the aliveness that vibrates within. 

​

The performance ran for 40 minutes.

Piano was added specifically for this clip on my grandfather's ancient untuned Berlin piano.
