a little bit about me
Anatolia H. Karteras loves to write, draw, sing, dance, guide people who find themselves at crossroads, facilitate events, tell stories and study the mysteries.
Her creations seem to fall at the intersection between ritual and nature activism.
Born to migrant Pontian Greek parents, raised on the Wurundjeri land of Melbourne, Australia and now based in regional France, Anatolia's relationship to the various lands we walk on and the land of the body we walk with, informs her work.
At the heart of her art is a fascination and honouring of how the trance states of ritual magic, in relationship with natural forces can inform the creative process, transforming human relationship to life itself.
Underscored by a belief that the blooming of modernity must be rooted in land-listening for our species and ecosystems to survive, her research through ritual and art explores how different land and water scapes, with the memories and beings of 'place' speak to those who will listen.
Anatolia has been developing her ritual practice for over 20 years, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Ancient Cultures (The University of Melbourne) and a Master of Communications and Project Management (RMIT University).
In her mid to late 20s, working as a Senior Communications Advisor in the Department of Education in Melbourne she realised the distinct disconnect between education systems and political landscapes with the earth we live within and the spiritual health of humans.
At 28, after leaving her government career, her first apprenticeship with land care and the human body-as-land began through her purchase and stewardship of a 40 acre organic olive grove and vineyard in the Heathcote wine region of Victoria, Australia. Find out more at: 'The Human Forest Project'.
'The 3 Faced One' is an ongoing project that has taken her from Australia to the UK, France and Greece creating sculptures and immersive clay and meditative experiences with her fierce knowing that the relationship between the 'head, heart and gut' is paramount to balanced humans, societies and cosmic ecosystems.

'Becoming Myth' is the seed of Anatolia's love of transformation through mythology, folk and faerie tales, initiatory experiences and storytelling. She runs online storytelling rituals connecting people to body, land and stars, as is running a unique 6 day experience 'KATABASIS: A Mythic Journey to the Underworld' on Samothraki Island in Greece, 23 - 28 September 2025.

In addition to her creative work, participating in various eclectic artist residencies, courses and trainings like the
Ecole Philippe Gaulier clown school in France,
School of Storytelling at Emerson College, Sussex UK
Westcountry School of Myth in Dartmoor with Dr Martin Shaw
Year long Mythic Body course with The Emerald's Josh Schrei,
International School of Temple Arts (Levels 1 - 3 and practitioner training), and other courses across Australia, Italy, the UK and Greece have sculpted her into a multi-faceted, life long contributor of the ritual-art-activism-storytelling movement.
