Over time I have accepted that the antidote to confusion, depression and anxiety for me begins with self love and shifts with creativity. 

 

When walking the Camino de Santiago in October 2022 I was confronted with the constant need to accept who I am in comparison to others.

In the city of Leon in Spain my 'iloveyou' project was born. I vowed to record myself in moments over a few months where I felt the need to remind myself of the love I have and am. The video sees recordings me walking the Camino, to New Zealand and Australia within a 4 month period. 

​

This experience brought to the surface my judgements of self, vanity, hatred, anger, deep grief of not 'being what I wish I could be' and at the end deep acceptance of where I am and who I am.

 

The project has allowed me greater space to breathe through my perceived inadequacies and still show up as a creator. I hope to one day show the video in a space where others with similar experiences of the inner critic can feel it from another's perspective.
